Women of Character, Courage & Commitment #WomenInAg

Filed Under: Women In Ag Tagged With: Women in Ag 1 Comment

Who is a woman of character, courage and commitment that you want to honor? I have a few hundred that come to mind that I know personally.  It’s National Women’s History Month and March 8th International Women’s Day. Today is also the beginning of Lent, a season that I purposefully find ways to cut back in one area of my…

An Outsider’s View On The Advantages of Small Town Sports

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Small Town Living Tagged With: athletics, North Dakota, prairie, rural life, small town sports 83 Comments

After 25 games this season, our son and the Mustangs team ended their season this past week. It was hard to swallow. Any fulfilling and exciting life chapter is difficult to close. High school basketball is one of those chapters. Every year, some seniors graduate. Every year, I realize we are one year closer to our son, Hunter being done himself…

Parrots On The Prairie Need Your Box Tops

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Small Town Living Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, rural life 3 Comments

A parrot made her acting debut last night on the prairie.  Sometimes she is a nervous girl. It took some coaching to be brave to try out for Blackbeard The Pirate. But Miss E did and she absolutely loved her first ever acting performance. The Missoula Children’s Theatre comes to our small town school once a year, thanks to the…

Last night my friend Brenda and I were walking down our local high school’s hallway to the elementary wing. Yes, our small town school is all in one building. A strength of a one building school is how it builds relationships with kids from preschool through grade 12. Kids stay connected with one another, regardless of age.  Brenda and I…

Throwback Thursday: Hunter Singing With Tim McGraw

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family, Tim McGraw Leave a Comment

Last night, Nathan and I watched the “new” Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The musical guest? Tim McGraw. It churned up an old memory for me. A look back at our son, Hunter, on stage with Tim McGraw in 2002 seemed like an appropriate “Throwback Thursday” memory to share today. Tim McGraw was the first concert at the new Ralph…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
