Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Proteins Tagged With: camping, cooking, hunk of meat Monday, North Dakota, prairie life, protein 7 Comments

This is the most outdoorsy Hunk of Meat of Monday we have ever done. Thanks to my father-in-law, commonly known as Grandpa Eldon, who taught us the ropes this weekend of cooking a turkey in the ground while we camped. Sound simple? It is and we have the pictures to give you a tutorial.  Plus it quite the family fun…

When you need a little down time…

Filed Under: Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: prairie life 7 Comments

When you need a little down time on a long weekend, I highly recommend a visit to the isolated, rural prairie where all I am hearing this weekend are the laughs of my children, the singing of meadowlarks, the crackling of a campfire and enjoying a long night’s sleep in a camper.  Camping with electricity, hot showers and mattresses with…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
