Today is a feature from my fellow North Dakotan Al Winmill. He has tips and trick in preparing duck. Take a read…My love of hunting has spurred many conversations in the social media world and Katie asking me to talk about how I cook duck was something I was interested in. I’ve heard from a lot of people who say…

After a hot and windy October, rain has settled in on the North Dakota prairie. Time for a new recipe of Warm German Potato Salad which is the ninth recipe I have made from the Gooseberry Patch Comfort Foods cookbook. I’ll share one more recipe in the next week and then will be giving away a copy of the cookbook…

Farm Girl Friday: Soybean Dust Spa With Roses

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values Tagged With: agriculture, family, family farm, Farmgirl Friday, farming 13 Comments

Where do you go to unwind? A spa? A monthly massage appointment? The library? There is something that causes stress to ooze out of me when I am at GriggsDakota (or in our family, it is termed “the farm”). Yesterday was extraordinarily special and I am so renewed from the day. We had a 60th wedding anniversary to celebrate with…

There are many mentors I have that have helped empower my voice, teaching and guiding me to share boldly and proudly about our rural life. Three of them were able to join me for coffee at no other than Starbuck’s during my time in Hutchinson, Kansas for the #140conf Small Town event. When you live 97 miles from Starbuck’s or…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
