Peek into the new normal…

It’s been a month since I took a drastic jump in careers. A few of you how asked me how it is going. Former colleagues think I have fallen into a gopher hole on the prairie because they have not heard from me. I have not talked about the changes on this blog as often as some of you anticipated…

Growing your own food to build community

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: agriculture, family, family farm, farming, gardening, growing crops, North Dakota, prairie, rural life 7 Comments

I’m a novice gardener and terrible at weeding our summer garden. Thankfully I have help. I’m a novice at preserving food also. I have more help with canning and freezing, having learned from my mother-in-law, mom and grandma to can and freeze the fresh garden produce so we can enjoy it in the long prairie winter.  Regardless of my novice skills,…

WW: Boldly living the road less traveled

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: faith, working mom 14 Comments

There is a change in the game plan this week. I am not hosting a linky party for Wordless or Wordy Wednesday. It’s the first time in well over a year. I’ll be back again soon but just needed a blog change this week as the month wraps.  Change is good I have learned. Change forces you into a new…

Blessed are the peacemakers…who live in chaos

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: faith, motherhood, working mom 5 Comments

As I came downstairs for my first cup of (late) coffee today, the stark prairie was preparing for sunrise. I walked outside in freezing temperatures with my camera. It was frosty and peaceful. But I didn’t realize how this capture would relate to my day. Sunday mornings are mostly hectic rather than peaceful at our house. We headed to church…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
