Friendly Friday Visit From Big Horn Sheep

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, prairie life, rural life 9 Comments

As we drove 705 miles home from Big Sky, Montana to the North Dakota prairie this week, we stopped along the way for some fresh air and to take in the Montana scenery. Nothing to unusual about our roadside stop and photo… until we noticed snow falling onto the road. Nathan thought a rock was falling. The teenager was too…

Passion for Rural Health Leads to Montana Skiing

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Small Town Living Tagged With: healthcare, North Dakota, prairie, rural life 5 Comments

We live on the North Dakota prairie where there is a shortage of family practice doctors. That shortage of doctors actually led us to Big Sky, Montana this week where a family practice physician’s conference was being held.  In my husband Nathan’s previous corporate career he interacted with doctors on a daily basis in a sales representative role and then…

Join Us In Celebrating Our Farmer GrandFather

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values Tagged With: agriculture, birthdays, family, family farm, farming, milestones 8 Comments

Since my birth, I have had tremendous role models.  One of them is my maternal grandfather, fondly called, Grandpa Sonny. Grandpa Sonny holding me on my baptism along with my parents, grandma, aunt and uncles. Each January in my childhood we celebrated family birthdays together. My birthday on the 6th, Great-Grandpa Odin’s on the 13th, Aunt Holly’s on the 16th…

One day last week I worked right up until 5PM, dashed out of the house to pick up the girls at daycare and just before doing that threw a pack of pork chops from the freezer into the microwave to defrost.  After daycare pick up, we made a mad dash for the one and only grocery store and picked up…

The Men of the House

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: being a mom, family, motherhood 2 Comments

Our teenager once was a little boy…not really that long ago.  But…our boy is no longer little.  He is as tall as the man of our house. Which can mean only one thing…we have MEN of the house now. One big fat tear just hit my keyboard.  Cherish every moment because indeed it goes by faster than you can ever…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
