Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: being a mom, motherhood, working mom 12 Comments

My mind has been pondering my work mom life versus the two weeks of vacation I’m doing right now to be a stay-at-home mom (SAHM). A longer blog post of rambling will come in the next couple weeks on my advantages and disadvantages I have pondered. For today, I’m just relishing in our family time. Share your Wordless or Wordful…

Homemade Guacamole, Gooseberry #4 Recipe

Filed Under: Fruits, Party Foods, Recipes Tagged With: avocado, cooking, Gooseberry Patch cookbooks, guacamole 6 Comments

In between running around around outside with the kids this week which is a big part of my Wordless Wednesday I’ll share tomorrow, I’ve been eating a bowls full of fresh and zesty homemade guacamole, mashed with California avocados, onion, garlic, lime juice, salt, our own garden tomatoes, jalapeno and cilantro, plus a little salt to taste. It’s divine. You…

How to catch, clean & grill fresh fish

Filed Under: Family Values, Proteins, Recipes, Small Town Living Tagged With: family fun, fishing, grilling, North Dakota, prairie, rural Leave a Comment

The blog has been hijacked by me, Nathan, the blog hijacker. I’m also otherwise known as Katie’s husband and father to our three children. We work long hours on the prairie but when we allow ourselves some downtime you can usually find me with my family, camping and fishing.  Catching walleye is always the goal.

Do you need a fast, easy, affordable and healthy family meal?  With Chicken Cashew Casserole, I found a quick answer in the Gooseberry Patch Comfort Foods cookbook. Cowgirls are born in the barn

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values Tagged With: agriculture, family, family farm, farming 6 Comments

Our lil’ cowgirls were fresh from their Sunday morning baths today as we visited with our GriggsDakota family. But as fresh and clean as they were, the only place they wanted to go was the barn. All they could think about was getting to the barn with Uncle Jim to bottle feed the calves they have known since early this…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
