Deck building & green thumb

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

I did not exactly inherit my mother and grandma’s green thumbs when it comes to gardening. I am trying to find any green thumb genes I have. Both my Gma Nola and my late Gma Dorothy are and were gardeners from zucchini to raspberry bushes to Mister Lincoln roses. My mother is a flower garden lady. Our landscaping is on…

Ball with Charlie

Some of you know the story of how I met my husband. It is a modern day fairy tale in our minds and I won’t retell it all right now. We met while traveling. The night we met out in Kansas City, we sat and talked for a few hours. He discreetly asked me a few “key” questions he and…

First ice cream cone

Remember all of the snowy, long winter photos I posted from November through April? How I wished and dreamed for summer? Well summer time is rolling out now. The lawn is being mowed. I am potting flowers this weekend, creating a flower bed, finally planting some perennials like Shasta daisies, carnations and many others and back yard deck building begins…

Completed 5th grade

Today Hunter wrapped up 5th grade. This morning, as Hunter and I were both eating our oatmeal together, he recapped the year by saying “it went faster than ever before…”. Indeed it was not long ago that this post was about Hunter’s first day school on his 11th birthday, holding his new basketball. I took a similar picture today. Hunter…

One potato, two potato

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

A couple of nights ago, Miss E and I were inside the house alone while the guys were outdoors, hauling dirt and playing baseball. E was freshly bathed, playing around the kitchen while I finished kitchen duty. She always finds her way into the pantry if the door is not completely latched. I keep dry ingredients on the lower shelves…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
