Link Up Wordless Wednesday: Why I’m lovin’ the North Dakota prairie

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Small Town Sports Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, prairie life, rural life 18 Comments

I’ve been to a lot of track meets as a former athlete, coach and long time fan.  But this was the first ever for our teenager. He threw farther than his goal was for his first meet. This former discus throwing mom was proud. It brought back old discus memories. None of the memories involved cows. But the teenager now…

Hunk of Meat Monday: Party Pasta (On The Fly)

Filed Under: Grains, Proteins Tagged With: cooking, hunk of meat Monday, Pioneer Woman, protein, recipes, Ree Drummond 5 Comments

When I discovered last week from a text message from my husband as I boarded flight that it was my mother-in-law’s birthday, I had to think fast. I knew her birthday and already had purchased gifts. I just hadn’t looked at the calendar during my business travel to see the date. I texted my husband back saying we were having…

Thundering Timpani with Sunrise & Smiles

The reason I blog at times is to remember the moments. Today was one of those moments. Easter morning on the farm starts early with the 7AM sunrise service. We enter the unlit church, in darkness like we left it on Good Friday. The sounds of the timpani rumbling from the balcony of the church represent the tomb being rolled…

Comfort Food, Tulips, No Schedule & The Need to Unwind

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: working mom 9 Comments

It’s been a hard-traveling Spring. We are taking this weekend to unwind with family.  What do I need to do to unwind? I don’t think I ever really do unwind. But I know a 24 hour crash course includes no schedule. I had the day off yesterday and my husband and father in law closed our family business. A long…

Today I am linking up with Two Bears Farm for Memory Lane Friday where the theme today is Earth Day. I’ve gone back the archives of photos…from the late 1990’s to 2000 to share memories of our family farm of when our now teenage son was a young little farm boy and also when two city girlfriends made a long road…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
