What the woman on the plane said to me

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

Do you ever talk to the person next to you an airplane? This week I had a professionally dressed woman on the inside of me, looking over at my pictures on the plane on my computer. I turned to her and smile.  She made some comments about “cute kids” and if they were mine or not.  I said, “yes and…

Iron Chef Challenge & Thankful Thursday Banana Cake Recipe

Filed Under: Dessert, Recipes Tagged With: baking 5 Comments

When bananas are ripe on my counter or the grocery store has ripe bananas setting out for a reduced price, I always make banana wheat cake with yogurt and applesauce in it. I’ve modified a recipe for the past few years from a fabulous cook book given to me by my 105 year old Great-Great Aunt Iris.  It’s been well…

Below is my weekly linky and blog hop for Wordless Wednesday. Today you see a glimpse into how exciting it was to watch the buckin’ broncos for us on Sunday night in our fair grounds grand stand.  116F heat index (temperature close 100F with high humidity and dew point) and a whole lot of brave cowboys (and cowgirls roping calves…

One of my favorite moments of the week is Sunday morning church. This past week, our community churches hosted church at the county fair. For our family, it is complete chaos to get to church. But usually in the midst of chaos, I find 30-90 seconds of complete serenity and peace. I crave that peace in my life. I can’t…

Crock-Pot Craze: Quick & Easy Reuben Wraps

Filed Under: Proteins, Recipes Tagged With: beef, cooking, hunk of meat Monday, meat, protein, proteins 8 Comments

With hectic summer schedules and the heat, I am cooking easy family meals. A new favorite are Reuben Wraps made with corned beef in the slow cooker, whole wheat tortillas and a few yummy toppings. They take less than 10 minutes to put together for a full family meal and as our teenager Hunter says are “delish!” I double most…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
