It’s Wordless Wednesday and there is a link up below for you to share your photos whether you are feeling wordless or wordful today. But first things first, there was a box that arrived yesterday at our house addressed to Miss E and Miss A. They got to work on it immediately.
What were the big finds in the box that created shrieks of joy echoing off the walls?
On the top of it were new pot holders made from fat quarters. My mom blogged about how to make pot holders last week and then they were included in this box.
The shrieks of joy echoing off the walls came from the girls when they found…
handmade hair bows and
handmade shorts from Mama Jane with store bought shirts.
So many shorts…
and such variety
that the girls were overcome with excitement for their new summer wardrobes.
Lucky girls.
Do you sew? Or did you ever have handmade clothes as a child?
Unfortunately, I never took interest in my mom’s sewing but am so thankful she takes the time to sew for the girls. I had many treasures from her when I was a kid. Funny thing was I didn’t realize how special they were then as I do now.
Update: In honor of my most loyal, longest standing best friend I have ever had in my lifetime, Sara and her birthday today here’s a picture to remember our homemade Christmas dresses from years ago. Sara’s mom made her dress. My mom made my dress. I had the most ugly glasses in the world.
Happy Birthday Sara!

Oh my gosh how exciting and what fun! Is there anything your Mom can’t do?!!
My Mom used to sew our clothes growing up. I remember going to the fabric store to pick out fabric for pajamas, dresses, and barbie clothes:)
So cute! I want to learn how to sew SO bad. 🙂
What a great package!
Okay, can I confess that I signed up for a sewing class in June? When I told my husband his response was, “YOU? SEWING?!” So that tells you what my skill level is, LOL.
I know how to turn on the sewing machine and do a line! I must get further into it LOL I remember my grandmother and greatgrandmother doing our Summer clothes, oh I wish I was so creative! And I am so glad home made clothes for kids are coming back in style! Looks like they are set for the Summer!
My sister and I sewed in 4-H; our Gma taught us. It was a great opportunity to spend quality time at Gma’s house and learn sewing. I complained enough that Mom got sick of listening to me and let me quit! I do not enjoy it at all. In fact my hubby mends all his own clothes and has sewn several pockets on his everyday ranch coats. He is very creative! On occasion he will mend something for me, if he is in the process. lol!
Like Christmas in May! Sweet little gleeful girls! What a great gramma they have!
My mom used to sew clothes for me all the time. You’re right – you don’t really appreciate how awesome that is until later. I should convince her to start sewing for Aliya…..great idea!
What a sweet post. My mom and I sew and I love seeing my girls in handmade clothes from their nana. I hope my girls always love wearing a handmade outfit. My mom made my dance dresses and even though I didn’t appreciate it at the time, I love looking back at the pictures. Love in stitches!
What sweet shorts! I think it’s so wonderful that your mom sews for your girls. They’ll have so many treasures of hers to wear for years to come. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by to link up and for tweeting me as well. I “like” your FB fan page. 🙂
Thanks for the shout out. We thought we were so beautiful in our homemade dresses. I also loved all the “multiples” that your mom made us.
