Coffee with K

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

On Monday afternoon, the girls and I met up with my sister Kirsti who was bringing our much missed Hunter back to us after from his long working weekend at the farm. Can you see the grease stains on his black t-shirt? Probably not. But his jeans were covered and he was proud. I suggested we meet at a favorite…

No no! Mine fuhst.

Miss E has not had trouble adjusting to life as a big sister. She just wants to make sure she is first to do something. Her latest word  is just that…”fuhst” as in “first”. She proclaims to Anika, “No no! Mine fuhst!” and proceeds to take over. She gets the first turn at anything. Always. If we let her. The…

Farm boy

As a young mother, I made the decision to raise son Hunter close to home, near family and our farm. While I had big dreams elsewhere, I knew the best place for Hunter was raising him in the wide open spaces and safety of my family farm. Hunter and I drove many, many weekends to the farm when he was…

Live fly catcher & more

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

Elissa’s fascination for catching flies started this summer. She used to only try to catch them in her fingers and would swat them with her hand. Experience has led her to a good ol’ trusty fly swatter. If she eyes a fly that has gotten into the house, she runs to retrieve the fly swatter and often she knows where…

Prairie purchases

When you live on the prairie, your outing of the day can often be going to the local grocery. It used to be for me meeting a friend or two at Starbuck’s, Caribou Coffee, Babb’s, Moxie Java or Luna. I had FIVE coffee hang outs before moving to the prairie. Options are limited on the prairie but we do go…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
