Time Saving Cooking Techniques So I Can Get Outside

Before I tell you about our family life on our little corner of the North Dakota prairie today, let me first say: Please pause and say a prayer for both boys I have in the upper right hand corner of this blog, Daniel and Townes. I know both of their mamas from college at the University of North Dakota and…

Wordless Wednesday: All Because 59 Years Ago Today…

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family 3 Comments

Today must be a Wordless Wednesday. There are not enough words to truly express my gratitude, love and respect. Plus I have a huge lump in my throat just from uploading these pictures.  All because farm boy grew up down the road from a younger sweet girl. They attended the same one room school on the prairie.   All because the farm…

Be authentic and don’t try to be Pioneer Woman.

Filed Under: Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: family, prairie life 8 Comments

Over the past few months more and more of my mommy girlfriends are reading The Pioneer Woman, buying her cookbook, homeschooling, gardening, photographing, sewing, blogging and whatever else they feel they need to do to find the homemaker within them.  I have heard a few comments like “I just want to be the next Pioneer Woman” or “She is homeschooling…

Small Town Homecoming Parade

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: Homecoming, North Dakota, prairie, prairie life, rural life 3 Comments

I went over to Lori’s daycare on Friday afternoon to watch our hometown homecoming parade with the girls.  I knew our girls would be excited for me to join them in their candy collection and parade watching but I wasn’t expecting the other kids to clamoring over whose hand I would hold as we walked to our selected corner. Lori…

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: agriculture, family activities, family fun, North Dakota, prairie, pumpkin patch, rural life 1 Comment

Take a peek into our favorite North Dakota pumpkin patch where we visited this afternoon. You cannot but help love North Dakota agritourism at its finest.  It’s Potter’s Way, just west of Oakes, ND, located on the Rodine farm. Potter’s Way is complete with gift shop of treasures, homemade pumpkin pie, coffee, apple slices with caramel and Hunter’s find of pumpkin…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
