In Another 30 Years…

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: kids, motherhood, raising a family 3 Comments

In another 30 years, our hope and prayer is for our children to become parents and have their own children.  But for now… the way this little “mother” is just melts my heart. Baby “Jared” (fondly named after Jared from daycare) was Miss E’s first “baby”. She also has Ava, Avery and Kaitlyn…also all namesakes of friends. Baby Jared was…

Our Family Fun Method To Burn Off Comfort Food Calories

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family, family fun, holidays 2 Comments

After feasting at Auntie Lori’s house in Minnesota, we are stuffed to the brim.  Baked Corn with Bacon is one of my mom’s classic holiday recipes that I scribbled down on Post-It notes a few years ago and make annually. It is holiday comfort food.  Lori’s homemade stuffing with chicken apple sausage is a new holiday comfort food that we…

#FoodThanks For Scalloped Potatoes & Family Farmers

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Life in North Dakota, Recipes Tagged With: #foodthanks, agriculture, family farmers, North Dakota, scalloped potatoes 2 Comments

Today many of my social media friends and (real life friends) are giving a special #foodthanks to thank and pay tribute for the food on our plates.  Being from a farming family I have a strong understanding of how my food is grown, where it comes from and how it ends up on my plate. But it is not something I always…

Toasty Warm To Frigid Cold

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota weather, prairie life 2 Comments

It’s toasty warm inside the house and the girls are wearing their cozy sweaters.  Thanks Gma Nola for Miss A’s adorable sweater. We got this for her birthday in July and winter seemed a long, long way off but it has quickly arrived. Today on the prairie it is frigid, beastly cold for November. We know how to bundle up…

Deer, Drama & Family Fun

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values Tagged With: agriculture, family, family farm, farming Leave a Comment

After a week of five airports, six flights, hotel rooms, little sleep and long days, you might think this crazed, chaotic working mom was looking forward this past weekend to staying home with family, laying low, relaxing and keeping it quiet and simple for a couple of days. A quiet weekend at home was not in the cards for me…or…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
