Calling Out My Little Sister’s Birthday

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: birthdays, family, milestones 7 Comments

March 7th is my much younger and only sister’s birthday. For my January birthday, she wrote a beautiful birthday tribute to me that displayed the finer, more uglier points of my life along with the joyously happy ones on her blog.  Payback is often bigger in our sisterly relationship. I have been taunting and evil big sister at times. But…

Link Up Show Us Your Life: Show Us Your Family

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family, family fun 4 Comments

Today I am linking up with Kelly’s Korner for her Friday Feature of “Show Us Your Life”. I have been a reader of Kelly’s blog for years but this is the first link up I have ever done. The topic of showing your family resonated with me. It is to show and share about the family you grew up in……

Balancing on the Tightrope of Life

Filed Under: Motivated Moms Tagged With: working mom 4 Comments

Every year as a child we received free tickets in school to attend the circus that came to town. My dad always took us, buying us cotton candy and letting us get one toy, which led my siblings and I to have a collection of light up swords at our house. But my favorite part of the circus was seeing…

Wordful Wednesday from Miss E: Onions Make Me Cry

Filed Under: Misc. Tagged With: wordless Wednesday 6 Comments

“Do onions make you cry, Mama?” “Yes, E, they make me really cry.”  “Here let me help you. I’ll wear your onion goggles. They don’t make me cry. I’m big already.”  “Mama, onions make me cry and they give me a headache!” “I’m eating a vitamin now that gets rid of my onion headache.” The vitamin looks very similar to…

Is March in like a lion or lamb?

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota weather, prairie life 4 Comments

Is March in like lion today or instead a lamb? March snowfall on the prairie can be bigger than any of the winter we’ve had. But the beauty of spring snow and blizzards is that it melts and brings our season of mud, then sunshine and spring. Even if March goes out like a lion in a month, we’ll be…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
