How To Teach Your Kids To Delicately Blow Out Eggs

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: Easter, faith, family fun, family traditions, holidays 6 Comments

Rather than me blowing out eggs until I am light headed and woozy this year, I decided to try to pass the torch to our son, the teenager.  It’s a learned skill. With much practice, I learned from my mother it is the best way to color eggs with kids at Easter. But…it’s not an easily learned skill the teenager…

Link Up Wordless/Wordful Wednesday: Despite Animal Abuse Headlines

Filed Under: America's Farm Table Tagged With: agriculture, animal abuse, where my food comes from 12 Comments

I can’t be Wordless this Wednesday. But you can link up your Wordless Wednesday post below.  Why can’t I be wordless today? There are animal abuse headlines today. The video is horrifying and makes me ill. I believe anyone who abuses animals should be punished by law. I am just as passionate about this being enforced as I am a…

Waving Palms & Etsy Easter Dress Sneak Peek

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: Easter, faith, family fun, family traditions, holidays 9 Comments

Miss A discovered the waving of the palms on Sunday while wearing one of her Easter dresses.  No, I didn’t make the dresses. I didn’t even call on my mom the seamstress.  I ordered two of two different dresses on Etsy. Sewing ladies love me. I am sucker. I don’t sew because…I never listened to my mother when it came…

Hunk of Meat Monday: Cajun Kraut Casserole

Filed Under: Proteins Tagged With: cooking, cooking with venison, hunk of meat Monday, North Dakota, protein, venison 5 Comments

At times I probably should be embarrassed at the concoctions I create to feed my family compared those cooks around me but often I pull off a crowd pleaser. My crowd happens to be a hungry teenager, an easy to please husband and two busy young girls, not exactly food snobs. If needed I can follow a recipe, thanks to…

Toddler Tea Party To Remember

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family fun 4 Comments

With Daddy and the teenage brother having an evening out at a Pheasants Forever banquet, it left the girls and I at home to have a girls night. Miss E declared it was time we have a tea party and then paint our toe nails.  Inside activities were mandatory as Spring played a trick on us yesterday. A nasty trick….

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
