May Day Best & Pork Ribs Rub for Grilling

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: cooking, family fun, hunk of meat Monday, protein 4 Comments

It’s May Day.
Despite roaring winds, freezing temperatures and snowfall, we are making the most of it…
in our Sunday best.

Even Baby Ava accompanied Miss E to church in a matching appropriate Spring like dress.

The teenager isn’t in the photos but he brighten our May Day by playing piano in church for offertory.
Post church and Sunday School, we had a family dinner at Nana and Grandpa’s house. Miss A twists her hair when she is tired. Nana offered for the girls to nap at their house.
While the girls napped, I experimented with my first pork ribs rub.
It’s a preview to my Hunk of Meat Monday post tomorrow.
The ribs are slowly cooking on the grill right now with smoking hickory wood with my husband the Grill Master overseeing them.
This is our first time doing ribs on a gas grill and I’m sure the barbeque masters would look down on us. But really? We’re just trying to make the most of a May Day that is nothing remotely like May. We wore winter coats to church over our Spring attire…and we’re grilling inside the building to stay out of the gusting 50 mph winds.
What surprises have you received on May Day?

we got cool winds today, threatening to bring in rains and storms but so far just wind. it’s a nice break from humidity and high 80s!

More rain for us, but that isn’t really much of a surprise anymore! Sweet girls in their dresses!

I’ll bet it’s smelling wonderful somewhere in all that gusty wind. Can’t wait to see the reveal tomorrow!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
