WW w/ linky: My reality and battles

Filed Under: Motivated Moms Tagged With: working mom 8 Comments

I have a new phone and decided to show you my reality in phone photos for a Wordless Wordy Wednesday. I bought 5 gallons of skim milk tonight. No, I don’t want a cow because that’s not a battle I can undertake. I don’t want to milk a cow but I do wish our milk supplier man would stock the…

Why I don’t bake very often…

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, North Dakota weather, prairie, prairie life, rural life 8 Comments

I spent this afternoon baking and was reminded why I don’t bake very often. It takes too much time…and patience. I’m a novice at best. But I will share with you the tips and tricks of banana bread later this week. Yes, I know, basic banana bread but really between Twitter, Facebook and mixing up a few recipes I searched…

Winter activities for kids (in the middle of no where)

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Small Town Sports Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, rural life 5 Comments

When you live 90 miles from the rest of society, opportunities and activities at times can be limited. On the flip side limited opportunities allows participation for all when an opportunity is presented. For example, our son, age 14, throughout the year participates in just about anything offered at our small, rural school from sports to music to academic to…

Due to weight and balance restrictions on a small plane a couple days ago the flight attendant asked for volunteers in the first seven rows to move to back open seats. No one was moving. I grabbed my purse and bag and moved to the first open aisle seat, 14B. The woman now seated beside me was an attractive blonde…

WW w/ linky: Gourmet Dessert Bar Planning

Have you ever hosted a party and had a dessert bar? I was inspired this past weekend by the gourmet dessert bar at the party I attended in Kingsburg, California following the California Women for Ag event I spoke at and joined friends there. This is definitely an idea I’ll be copying for an upcoming 2012 birthday party or BBQ…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
