The adventures (and black eye) of active girls

Filed Under: Family Values, Life in North Dakota, Small Town Living Tagged With: family, prairie life, rural healthcare 4 Comments

I pulled up in the driveway last night after parent teacher conferences. I was driving my husband’s large and in charge diesel pick-up truck. Wearing heels and a dress and driving a big diesel was an empowering feeling yesterday but it has been a long week and I was ready for some unwinding last night. The girls played “house” in…

Thankful for Robbie

Today is my first born sibling’s birthday. My years of only childhood ended and I was overjoyed with my miracle brother. As you can see in the above picture he was not overjoyed always with his big sister. He is a musician, a teacher, a farmer, a basketball coach and has chosen to have his career in rural North Dakota….

Local find amongst prairie Spring happenings

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, rural life, spring 8 Comments

I found a local find that was made for me today on the first day of Spring. Through my work, I attended the Pride of Dakota Day (a program that includes 500 small businesses making North Dakota products) at the State Capitol. It was a North Dakota necklace that jumped out at me amongst tables of companies displaying and showcasing…

Warm weather memory moments

It is still winter on the prairie. Oh so the calendar says. We often have March blizzards. I grew up with this being track season but it’s INDOOR track season because there are always snow banks around in March. But this past week indoor track meets were moved outdoors. A tiny slice of me wished I could go compete just…

Luke, Ellie, Noah (our friends from Iowa) came last weekend to help Nathan celebrate his birthday early with Miss A, Miss E and Hunter. There is an Irish blessing in our family on St. Patrick’s Day. We’re not Irish but we celebrate in grand fashion. It’s Nathan’s birthday today. He’s the man of the house. Father, husband, business owner. I…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
