Flowers, Cheers, Hugs & Prayers for Leontien

Filed Under: Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: friendship, girlfriends, North Dakota, prairie women, rural life 17 Comments

If I could send her fields of flowers that would heal my blogging friend from her cancer while bringing her the greatest of joys, I would. But I don’t have healing power. But I am a part of an amazing blogging community that is reaching with blog posts of flowers and virtual hugs for Leontien of Four Leaf Clover Tales….

Why I smell like North Dakota’s Wishek sausage

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, rural life 13 Comments

There is a secret my husband didn’t tell me about when we relocated to his hometown five years ago. I would smell like sausage when I lived here. Every day. Before we got married, thankfully, I knew part of the sausage secret. But the parts of the secret you can only know if you actually live in the south central…

When you engage to create change

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: agriculture, family, family farm, North Dakota, prairie, rural life 3 Comments

The best efforts are created from the bottom up, not from the top down I have learned. It’s individuals coming together to make a difference, to champion their cause that create impact and change. This Saturday, one of my colleagues, Sara K, is leading a race she organized and successfully built in honor of her parents and specifically for her…

My personal Mac Book Pro lap top crashed last night. Then this morning my desk top PC at work wouldn’t turn on…

I’ll share later this week the special connection we had to friends in the stands this past weekend. It was unique and a surreal moment when lifelong…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
