Crock-Pot Applesauce Recipe

Filed Under: Fruits, Recipes Tagged With: apples, crockpot applesauce, fruit 4 Comments

It’s time for easy applesauce making, using a Crock-Pot! I don’t have a fruit bearing tree in our prairie, former hay-field, yard. Someday. But thankfully I have friends who share apples like my friend Sonia did. And I have don’t have hours to delicately prepare apple recipes. Thankfully I have friends who tweet about easy apple recipes. My friend Emily…

Miss A is three. And age three is more active than age two. She does not stay still for long. She is an active child. A very active child. Last night the small cab of the combine she was riding in cramped her style. She needed to break free. She and I climbed off the combine and walked across the…

Is rice safe to eat?

Filed Under: America's Farm Table Tagged With: agriculture, where my food comes from 4 Comments

A Japanese proverb says, “A meal without rice is no meal.” It’s true for over half the world’s population. Rice is a life sustaining grain. While in the United States, I do not need rice to sustain life for my family. Rice is a staple in our diet. Rice became top of mind for me yesterday as I drove down…

The girls both know I love to capture daily sunrise and sunset pictures. You might already know this because I think four of my last five blog posts have something…

You cannot know it until you live it. But maybe you have not lived until you have at least seen it.  Western North Dakota is where my sister and brother-in-law live….

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
