Sparkle & spunk with a prayer request please

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: faith, love, prayer, praying 14 Comments

Miss A is three. And age three is more active than age two. She does not stay still for long. She is an active child. A very active child. Last night the small cab of the combine she was riding in cramped her style. She needed to break free. She and I climbed off the combine and walked across the road from the GriggsDakota soybean field to the yard of our cousin’s home.
I grabbed my camera from the car, only to capture our bedazzled in pink cowgirl boots, her hat, fleece and shirt showcasing her zest for wide open spaces and freedom, with a big jump.

Miss A has sparkle. She has spunk. We also have a cousin, Miss C, who is just months older than our spunky Miss A.
Miss A and Miss C are both the youngest children of three. But Miss C is currently in cancer treatments and in great pain this week from complications.

So when you see Miss A’s sparkly smile, could you say a prayer for Miss C in Iowa? Pray for her spunk and sparkle to return and for her to break free from cancer so she can just be like any other three year old girl wearing pink who loves wide open spaces and have the zest to freely run and jump.

I take for granted Miss A’s zest, her ability to be a three year old with no pain or suffering and only a carefree sense of self. But I was reminded last night in talking to my mom and grandma how quickly that can be taken from us as I heard more about Miss C and her pain. And I prayed, a thankful mother for all the blessings that we are given and I was a prayerful woman for Miss C, her family and for her healing.

We will continue to pray for Miss C. Will you join us?

Sending prayers from an Ohio farm girl. As a mother of 5 and grandmother of 6, nothing can be taken for granted. Every moment is precious and Miss C deserves to have more of those fun country moments.

Praying with you. Cancer definitely stinks. A friend of mine was recently diagnosed and she has 4 kids the youngest is only 7 weeks old. Brings to mind the song by Martina McBride “I’m Gonna Love You Through It”.

Your daughter is just adorable in her pink hat and boots.. I am sorry to hear about her cousin Miss C. I am praying for her as well. My 8 year old nephew has been battling cancer for 2 years. It is good news for us that the chemo is now ending and we are hopeful that he will be better soon. I wish the same for Miss C and for comfort for her and her family.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
