Why We All Need The “Be Aggressive” Cheer

Filed Under: Motivated Moms Tagged With: blogger, bogging, motherhood, why I blog, working mom 4 Comments

When I played high school girls basketball, the season was in the fall. I would be getting ready to play by the end of July like it is now. Back in the “olden days” as my son would say. North Dakota moved girls basketball to be a winter sport after I graduated from high school. We actually started basketball practice…

#Blogher13 Recap: No matter your shoes, show up at the table

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values, Uncategorized Tagged With: agriculture, family, family farm, why I blog 16 Comments

Do you ever get really comfortable where you are at in life? Or maybe you’re in a little downturn and can’t figure how to turn yourself around in it? I relate life situations often to shoes. I get comfortable in wearing my favorite one or two pairs of shoes. But then I never know when I need others. So I…

35 North Dakota Sunrises and Sunsets of 2013

Wide open spaces on the North Dakota prairie completely and utterly captivate me, particularly at sunrise and sunset. I pull over when driving. I run out into fields. I take screens off our second story windows. I stand onto top of our pick-up. I even crawled out my son’s bedroom window onto our garage roof once for the right angle….

I think this has been true for North Dakota in recent years. There are far more negative headlines about our growth in the heart of a nationwide American recession than positive. We have opportunity. We are…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
