Glamping With Four Generations of North Dakotans

Filed Under: Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: family, family fun, glamping, North Dakota, prairie 1 Comment

It’s going to take me four days to recover from a three-day celebrating weekend. Anyone else feel this way? But what memories are you taking with you? I thought about it early this morning over a cup of coffee and the memories from this weekend will stick with our kids and family for decades to come. Four generations of family…

Age Five with 20 Princesses At A Party

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: birthdays, family fun, kids 3 Comments

July kicks off with a bang at our house. We aren’t Canadian but live awfully close. So while we could celebrate Canada Day on July 1, we instead celebrate our youngest, baby girl, Anika. Her birthday morning started with her crawling into bed with us in the middle of the night and with her sister Elizabeth standing by my bedside…

It Wasn’t Meant To Be In June

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: family, motherhood 33 Comments

As June ends, I have a lump in my throat, a tightness in my chest and a little extra moisture in my eyes while I look through photos my sister sent me in an email yesterday. It started out as an after church photo shoot last weekend for Anika’s fifth birthday and evolved into a full family shoot. But as…

A Father He Didn’t Have To Be

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family, family values, fatherhood, marriage 2 Comments

With the celebration around Father’s Day I know a few people struggling with the lack of father in their life. Each has their own story to the dad they no longer have in their life, the father that was never present, the dad that left never to be seen again, the dad that hurt them and never apologized, the father…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
