My parents and brother Robbie stayed at the farm to carry on with a late corn harvest. We missed them yesterday at our Thanksgiving table. My brother Joe was most happy that he was still able to bring the pie Grandma Nola had labeled “For Robbie”. Grandma is known for doing special baking for her favorite Robbie and we of…

Hiding spot

Where you ask is Elissa’s newest hiding spot? It’s the newly finished tinder box next to our fireplace. The tinder box soon will be filled with firewood which for now is neatly stacked outside. Nathan roughly figured out the hours he and his dad put into building and installing the fireplace, plus the fan system, chimney, etc. He thinks every…

Santa’s Sunday helper

(Unedited photos are the best…like Nathan’s head completely cut off on this picture.) She’s a charmer. On the goI think the pictures speak for themselves on how difficult it is to capture Elizabeth on camera these days. She used to…

Piano festival

It was a tremendous afternoon for Hunter. Despite a very delayed corn harvest which has tensions high on the farm, Grandpa Fred and Mama Jane made their grandson smile big when they showed up at his piano festival. It was a six hour round trip road trip for a five minute performance but of course absolutely worth it. Plus Auntie…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
