The farm dog needed water

Filed Under: America's Farm Table, Family Values Tagged With: agriculture, family, family farm, farm, farming 3 Comments

We arrived at my parent’s farm last night. It was 96.8 degrees in the shade. Summer heat is finally here. With that heat came dry barley good enough to combine and Hunter got out to the field to get in on the first night of harvesting. He is back out there today, riding in the combine. Elizabeth is at house…

Doctor Pinke

When Auntie Lori arrived last Saturday she brought a doctor’s kit for Elizabeth to play with and it was a huge hit. Auntie Lori is a tremendously talented and accomplished medical doctor herself. She is training her nieces and nephews early and preparing them for medical careers! We told Elizabeth that she is “Doctor Pinke” when she plays. And she…

Big brother love

Three weeks ago…Hunter went to visit his family in Washington and before he left we took this picture. And three weeks later, he is home. We put Anika in the same dress (cherry print which I have always loved!) to show how much she had changed. Elizabeth greeted Hunter on the porch with shouts of joy and glee and she…

Auntie Lori road tripped over 500 miles this weekend to come visit us and meet her newest niece Miss Anika Iris. This morning we loaded up the Odyssey (yes I admit…a great people mover), drove to Bismarck with Auntie Lori, Gpa Eldon and Gma Carol. We enjoyed brunch together and then took the girls to their first zoo visit. Feeding…

If she could sleep at the same time in afternoon as her sister and at the same time as me every night that would be perfect! But…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
