Anika Iris, 11 months

Filed Under: Misc., Motivated Moms Tagged With: baby, happy baby, kids, motherhood 1 Comment

Our baby Anika Iris is 11 months old today. She is crawling, pulling herself to stand, letting go but no first steps yet. She is also still holding out on teeth and gives us big toothless grins. I know when will the teeth cut? Your guess is as good as mine. Believe me, Anika wishes she had teeth so she…

Wedding on the prairie

Filed Under: Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: family, prairie life, wedding 4 Comments

My sister Kirsti was married this weekend to Mike in a gorgeous wedding ceremony filled with emotion, beautiful music and meaningful messages (there was even a children’s sermon).  It was 93 degrees on Saturday afternoon on the prairie. You cannot tell though can you? With her usual style, class and grace, Kirsti was a stunningly beautiful bride.  Some of you…

Happy Wedding Weekend!

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: family, wedding 1 Comment

Tomorrow my sister marries Michael on the college campus they met on a couple years ago.  It was just five years ago that Kirsti went to the small college to play volleyball and earn her college degree. I remember Kirsti telling me on more than one occasion, “I am NEVER marrying anyone from here”, noting that no guy was “tall…

This week each evening Hunter and Elissa have been going to our church’s annual Bible School. I was the storyteller on Monday and Tuesday night. E is actually a year too young to attend and was going to be my helper. She managed to maneuver her way into the 3-4 year old group, learning to play the tambourine to Jesus…

Frugal pampering

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Motivated Moms Tagged With: budget, frugal, motherhood, prairie life 2 Comments

Yesterday I went to my small-town salon for a four hour pampering session. It was a true mini-vacation for me. I was due for some “touch-up” work on my hair but I splurged on some additional pampering appointments for my sister’s upcoming wedding weekend. After a pedicure, a manicure, a full color/ highlight, a hair cut and an eyebrow wax,…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
