Find a local music concert for Christmas

Filed Under: Small Town Living Tagged With: rural life Leave a Comment

In the hustle and bustle of the commercialized Christmas season, there’s a place you can go to be filled with joy and peace. It doesn’t involve fighting crowds and standing in long lines to buy gifts or visit Santa. This past week, I found genuine joy and peace in a small-town gymnasium at a high school music concert—my son’s senior…

Disney in December

Filed Under: Motivated Moms Tagged With: family fun, holidays, travel 2 Comments

One of our favorite places in December is Disney World in Orlando. My parents brought Hunter to Disney World when he was a fourth grader in his last week of being an only child. His excitement hooked us all and we love this time of year, Disney style. Nathan planned five days for us this year which warmly kicked off the…

Share and Give Farm Toys For Tots

Filed Under: America's Farm Table Tagged With: family farm, farm, farming, kids Leave a Comment

I am choosing to give farm toys this Christmas, rather than wasting time wrestling with online activists and their petition to pull toy livestock trailers from Wal-Mart shelves. I joined the efforts of three agriculture friends to create Farm Toys for Tots. The three friends include a Michigan pig farmer, a Montana cattle promoter and a Wisconsin dairy farmer. They did…

The student crowd, also known as the Border Patrol, continued to lead cheers…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
