The Best Christmas Party Punch Recipe

Filed Under: Recipes Tagged With: easy family recipe 6 Comments

What’s a party without punch? At a friend’s house I had a glass of the best punch I have ever tasted. She told me it was just a recipe she had come across online. I Googled “party punch” and found it. I called my friend to confirm the ingredients. Indeed, I had found the recipe. Miss E and I made this party punch first for a holiday party and since then I make for any party or event. It’s a WINNER.

You can use any color/ flavor of Jello. We first used Strawberry for red Christmas punch. I commonly now use “Fruit Punch” or “Cherry Lemonade” flavored Jello.
Then it is just water, lemon juice, pineapple juice and sugar. You will need ginger ale to pour over the frozen punch mixture before serving. I love the Raspberry Ginger Ale but regular works great.

I love using American Crystal sugar because is grown by the sugar beet farmers of the Red River Valley of North Dakota and Minnesota, my home stomping grounds. The sugar beet feature on Sesame Street when I was a kid and a favorite of mine. It’s a classic that decades later still makes me proud of sugar beets.
Here is the Allrecipes.com punch recipe for 40 people. We made it for 60 people. You can set your quantity and adjust the recipe.

Ingredients
  • 3 (3 ounce) packages fruit flavored gelatin mix
  • 4 cups white sugar
  • 13 cups boiling water
  • 2 (46 fluid ounce) cans pineapple juice
  • 1 (16 ounce) bottle lemon juice concentrate
  • 2 (2 liter) bottles ginger ale, chilled

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine gelatin and sugar. Stir in boiling water until mixture is dissolved. Stir in pineapple juice and lemon juice concentrate. Divide into 2 containers, and freeze until solid.

Advantage of North Dakota winters is that we froze our punch on the deck.

To serve, place the frozen punch mixture in the punch bowl, pour chilled ginger ale over the mixture.

Do this a few hours in advance of serving because it is REALLY frozen, especially if it has been on your deck on the frozen prairie. Allow time to for the punch mixture to thaw and meld with the ginger ale.

We had rave reviews of this punch last night at our Christmas Cheer party and it is definitely becoming my go-to punch recipe. Any season, any event…it will be perfectly punchy.

Now go enjoy some Christmas party punch! What’s your favorite party recipe?

Looks yummy Katie!! Yes we love our ND and MN American Crystal Sugar Beet farmers. My dad doesn’t farm them anymore, but that is all I knew as a kid. Now he rents out his shares. . who knows one day they may start up again. There is nothing like American Crystal Sugar. Merry Christmas my dear.

Katie, I went to the grocery store later last night as Greg had asked me to do some baking for a bus drivers meeting this morning. I made a point of really looking at the sugar I picked up and there is only Our Family brand. The Crystal Sugar bag on your blog looked so strange! There are sugar beets out here and there is a plant about an hr from here in Sidney,MT, so I just assumed it was C.S. too?? Have a Very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Dorine

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
