*There's a garden, what a garden
Only happy faces bloom there
And there's never any room there
For a worry or a gloom there
Oh there's music and there's dancing
And a lot of sweet romancing
When they play the polka
They all get in the swing

Every time they hear that oom-pa-pa
Everybody feels so tra-la-laThey want to throw their cares awayThey all go lah-de-ah-de-ay
Everybody feels so tra-la-la
They want to throw their cares away
They all go lah-de-ah-de-ay
Then they hear a rumble on the floor, the floor
It's the big surprise they're waiting forAnd all the couples form a ringFor miles around you'll hear them sing...

Roll out the barrel, we'll have a barrel of funRoll out the barrel, we've got the blues on the runSing boom tararra, ring out a song of good cheer all here
Now's the time to roll the barrel
Roll out the barrel, we'll have a barrel of fun
Roll out the barrel, we've got the blues on the run
Sing boom tararra, ring out a song of good cheer
all here
Now's the time to roll the barrel
Roll it out, roll it out, roll out the barrel.
Sing a song of good cheer.
Roll it out, roll it ‘Cause the whole gang is here

It was a grand 85th annual Sauerkraut Day on the prairie today. Hunter played his trumpet to the Beer Barrel Polka with the school band. The girls enjoyed the event but we learned Miss E has no time for sauerkraut. She actually gagged while attempting to eat. That is the Norwegian in her. Anika, Nathan, Hunter and I all had enough good German blood in us to enjoy the bacon grease infused kraut along with plenty of potatoes, weiners (which I don’t eat), cheese and buns. Miss E opted for cheese and bun only.
Next year we hope we have a larger gang here to join in on this truly authentic prairie event.
Doesn’t the above picture of the sauerkraut make your mouth water?

Yum!! The German in me loves Sauerkraut and the Norweigen in me loves Lutefisk. . . the best of both worlds!!! Maybe Miss E will like Lutefisk!!!!
