A happy mama makes a happy child

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: faith, motherhood, working mom 1 Comment

This man with these three kids have made me a happy mama. In turn a happy mama brings happy children and we are a happy family.

Being a happy mama is a choice you to have to make in life I believe. You cannot let life overwhelm you when you are in the trenches of motherhood. You have to choose happiness, recognizing motherhood is the most rewarding job or role you will ever have. It is also is the most challenging role. I love being a mother more than anything on this earth.

On this Mother’s Day, it is a day to reflect and be thankful for the generations of happy mothers we have in our family that have given me the foundation, courage and strength to be the mother I am today.

Nathan and I both have had mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers and great-great grandmothers that have built a tradition of being happy, giving and loving mothers.
Our mothers have taught me the basics of being a good mom…from getting tough stains out of laundry, how to best manage a puking child to tough love and discipline. I have learned from them the importance of reading to my children to the value of instilling Christian morals and values in your children’s lives at a very young age.
I could go on and on all that I have learned. They don’t have bad habits. They are the most loving mothers I have known. They are realistic. They speak truth, even when you don’t always want to hear it. These mothers of ours are truly spectacular in the wild world of motherhood.
And the best part of all?
They are our moms.
Our mothers can pull off a meal like no other families I know. Big, delicious meals for a crowd are common. They bring our family together and have helped build a tremendous family bond.
Our mothers have taught Nathan and me to always keep our family our top priority.
Today I am filled with joy and happiness for the gift of being a mother and for those generations of mothers that have given me the teaching and tools to be the best mom.

Happy Mother’s Day.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
