The daily photographed baby

So my sister and I bought a few different t-shirts for Elizabeth at Target…this of course being my favorite which she is wearing today…until she has a “Code 5” diaper and needs her clothes changed. I am just thankful for disposable diapers and to have a washing machine and dryer! She did have on her “I love daddy” t-shirt yesterday which lasted about five minutes. We’ll try to wear that one again soon. As you can tell, I am on maternity leave and have time on my hands to take photos! When Hunter is at school and Nathan at work, Elissa and I hang out all day. She is the very much photographed baby…yes I think it is daily.

With Nathan and his family having dark hair and dark eyes and my family and I having light hair and blue eyes, we have pondered since before Elizabeth’s birth if she would have dark or light hair and brown or blue eyes. Now all babies start with blue looking eyes…however we think as she is getting older her eyes are looking very blue! Dr. Keith saw Elissa last Sunday and confirmed he thinks they are looking like they might stay blue. She also has her Grandpa Fred’s curls in her hair…we hope those stay too.

You can see a just a tish of the artificial Christmas tree off to the right of this photo…we can’t take it down until we have some type of lighted decoration to replace it. Elissa loves it. She stares it during feedings, during her down time in the Boppy bouncer and even sometimes it catches her eye during her evening fussy time. Yes she is a night owl like her mommy. Tonight I think Nathan and I are resorting to an evening drive at about 10:30PM to get her to sleep. Rather than tough it out until 1Am. Whatever works!

Sweet baby face.

There is a peaceful snowfall outside right now. We hardly have any snow so it is fun to see. Hunter is home from school but is outside playing in the new snow with a friend. Next winter Elissa can join him outside but for now we stay out of the cold air. Our big outing of the day was to the grocery store!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
