“Agriculture is something I didn’t anticipate getting into. I had no connections at all to it until I was in college when I got an internship at a farm magazine. Since then, I have increasingly become interwoven into agriculture. It’s part of my day-to-day and a part of my heart & soul. It’s a passion for me that I can’t…

“I always try to remind my family and friends that no task is too big and we can accomplish anything we set our minds too.  We all face challenges but we can’t give up, we have to pick ourselves up and keep going even if it means leaving our comfort zone.  For every success we achieve, we have many failures…

“Poultry farming is so mysterious to many people and there are a lot of misconceptions related to the size of these particular farm operations. I love to tell people that I know turkey, egg and chicken farmers of many different sizes and these are good people. They care for their birds and work hard to make sure they have a…

“If you have questions about the food you eat, do your homework.  Maybe the most intimidating step is figuring out where to begin your research or if you think it’s a “dumb” question.   A great place to start your research is in your local community.  If you don’t know any farmers, I encourage you to contact your Farm Bureau or…

“I wanted to be a veterinarian for as long as I can remember. Although I did go through a brief phase in high school where I was interested in psychology and law.  This has been helpful in my career as a veterinarian.  Prior to working as a regulatory veterinarian, I worked at two different mixed animal practices, working with many…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
