An early morning visitor to the prairie

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: prairie life 2 Comments

We had a visitor pull into our yard early Saturday morning. And someone was quite excited. To put into perspective, we are fortunate to live in the same town as Nathan’s parents and yes we are in the same state as my parents, grandparents and siblings. And soon Auntie Lori (Nathan’s sister) will be back in Minnesota. But we are…

Anika Iris, 8 months

Filed Under: Misc. Tagged With: milestones 4 Comments

Anika Iris is 8 months old today. And in our usual monthly fashion as we took her picture with her “hop hop” that her Daddy bought for her when she was born.  In the past short month, two things I thought for sure would happen any day a month ago still have not happened: crawling and teeth.  Anika scoots anywhere…

Work life balance

Filed Under: Motivated Moms Tagged With: working mom Leave a Comment

During the work week, we delicately balance a hectic work life with an important but busy family life.  Our family is our top priority. But both Nathan and I are committed to our work also.  I work from home when I do not have business travel which has been extensive lately. However I love my home office life and the…

Look who survived a full dishwashing cycle…

Last night Hunter (after recovering from very nasty stomach flu so he has not been photographed for a few days) went to a local basketball practice with Nathan in a nearby town. The girls and I were at home for supper together. As I talked to my sister in law, Lori, on the phone, Elizabeth was “helping” me with the…

She’s driving this ride

I’m the mother to “that” kid. The kid that attracts an enormous amount of attention in public. She is not naughty, at least not very often but she always has ideas and is quite sure they are right. I had a younger sibling like her and have flashbacks to babysitting him at times when I am mothering this daughter of…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
