St. Patrick’s Day Birthday

Every year Nathan is Irish for a day and celebrates his birthday with a grand bash on St. Patrick’s Day. This year our St. Patty’s Day birthday bash was especially fun because we are on vacation. Our Montana friends Wade, Holly, Emma and Ava were able to join us along with my brother Joe and parents who came with us…

Our wrestling & basketball playing boy

Filed Under: Small Town Sports Tagged With: athletics, sports 2 Comments

In less than 24 hours this past weekend, we watched Hunter wrestle three times and play four basketball games. Being a fan of an older brother takes a lot of patience and thankfully our baby girl Anika has it.  Being a fan also takes a lot of patience from the mommy and the daddy. This mommy doesn’t have a lot…

Miss E loves March mud

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

The snow is melting on the prairie. It is a slow thaw which is ideal to prevent spring flooding but it is a time that we long for sunshine (which we haven’t seen it what seems like months), green grass and no mud. Frosty fell over and every day Miss E needs to go out to “see where Frosty was” which…

My best attempt at being a prairie cooking mom & wife

Filed Under: Family Values, Motivated Moms Tagged With: cooking, motherhood, prairie life 5 Comments

While our outside weather this week has been snowy, rainy, very muddy and slushy, inside the house, each evening I have been cooking, creating a disaster in the kitchen but leading to many tasty new creations. All of the new recipes I have tried have come from The Pioneer Woman’s cookbook that my friend Roxy (my favorite author) gave me…

Our brother from Africa

Filed Under: Family Values Tagged With: Christian, compassion, faith, family values 5 Comments

The first time Hunter crawled up onto Santa Claus’s lap at our local shopping mall, he was two years old. He looked Santa right in the eye and told him he wanted two things:  1. Orange pop  2. A brother He still gets orange pop as a special treat and annually from Santa. As Hunter has gotten older, he became…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
