A Happy Birthday Weekend

Filed Under: Family Values, Small Town Living Tagged With: athletics, basketball, birthdays, family, milestones, small town sports 4 Comments

Hey all! It’s Kirsti, Katie’s lovely sister, hijacking the blog to share our weekend of birthday festivities.
And it wasn’t just anyone’s birthday. It was Katie’s!

Friday night found all of us together in a nearby gymnasium. One of us was pacing the sidelines.
Another defending the court.
The rest of us were in the stands cheering, chatting and taking photos…or perhaps playing phone games, I’m not quite sure.
What’s more, we were all together for a win. Go mustangs!
The next day we gathered for a fancy surprise par-tay. (It feels ritzier when you pronounce it like that, no?)
It was a surf and turf meal that rivaled many steakhouses. Lobster bisque, crab legs, new york strips, specialty potatoes and more.
More kisses for the birthday girl, that is.
There were beautiful, thoughtful gifts.
Opened with assistance, of course.
And then we ate cake. Divine, pink cupcakes made especially for the occasion by none other than the birthday girl’s mother.
As with all family parties, it was a group effort.
But credit for the planning, preparation and precise care goes to Katie’s ever-dashing husband.
 And assistants, of course.
Happy Birthday Katie!!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
