It’s already Wednesday and I am still blogging about Sunday. After today I will no longer be in blog catch up mode. Today will serve as the final chapter of our wild, hurried but amazingly fun weekend. We drove over 900 miles in 57 hours, visited some of our dear friends and dropped by to see Auntie Lori at her new house in Minnesota.
As we traveled west out of Minneapolis we finally got to see my forever friend Sara, her husband Scott and their boys Sam and Lucas. It was Sara’s birthday yesterday. My first birthday party memory with her was when we went to the movie theater to see ET. Since that time we have celebrated decades of birthdays and milestones together, now including watching our kids play together.
Sara and I are banking on our kids being friends. And since we aren’t sisters by blood, maybe we can coerce Elizabeth and Sam or Anika and Lucas into getting married to one another in 30 years? Seems logical to us.
For now, Lucas and Anika are already fast friends.
After loading up at Sara and Scott’s we drove another 100 miles west and reached Auntie Lori’s new home. She has slowly worked her way closer to us over the past few years which we are thrilled about and has moved back to Minnesota to practice urology.
Auntie Lori just had landed after a vacation in Hawaii, quickly got some supper together for us and we were able to enjoy a couple hours at her new home. Hunter showered and all the kids got their jammies on for our final leg home.
Lori’s home is on a beautiful wooded lot on a Minnesota lake. It is like being at a peaceful resort which we are excited to visit often.
We always talk about how much Anika looks like Nathan and Lori. As I am preparing some photos for Carol and Eldon’s 45th wedding anniversary I came across the below photos of Lori and Nathan. I REALLY see Anika in them and the shape of Elizabeth’s face and expression also.
What do you think?
Adorably cute and fun to see the resemblance!
It is a beautiful spring day. And as E just told me “No rainy, no snowing and it’s not windy, Mommy!” Indeed it is a glorious day on the prairie. Time for us to getting going and enjoy it.
Happy Wednesday.

I really wanted to give you an award but wasn’t sure how exposed you wanted your blog to be.
