The end of August…

Saturday morning sunshine… we love Elizabeth’s crazy blonde hair.

Mobile baby
Ice cream sundae in a rain gutter! Nathan and our friend Eric helped the boys (and a few sisters of Hunter’s buddies also participated) build an enormous ice cream sundae.
Birthday party chow time…the ice cream sundae in the rain gutter might become an annual tradition.

Elissa would rather learn to walk than crawl. We call this her “track stretch”.
Auntie Lori is here this week visiting.
On a crazy windy night last week, Nathan built a goal post for Hunter to use playing football in the yard with his friends. Nathan has only become a true football fan via Hunter, my brothers and me. And…yet it was so thoughtful of him to build a goal post. Hunter LOVES his new field. And Hunter and I are gearing up for another ridiculous year of Joe’s fantasy football league. Joe is always the commissioner and always seems to make sure that after I win the first few weeks that he prevents me from winning anymore. Like last year when he blocked me from making trades! He did give me the #1 pick this year though so thank you Joseph.
The perfect birthday present for a 5th grader!
August is coming to a close and we can hardly believe it. Tonight is our first home high school football game. It seems like an odd time…Tuesday night at 6PM but it is the first sign of fall. My little brother Joe starts his first day of college today and Robbie and Kirsti are back in classes too. Robbie is going home to the farm on the weekends to continue helping with harvest. Kirsti is playing volleyball–this weekend in Irvine, California. Come cheer Kirsti on this fall! Click for her schedule
Auntie Lori is visiting us this week from Wisconsin which is great fun. She has come over to the past two nights to help out with bath time and last night gave Elissa her bedtime bottle. Nathan and she will get in some golf in Bismarck later this week.
Hunter is playing basketball this fall. The way scheduling works with our school 5th and 6th graders play basketball in the fall. Hunter practices every day after school and of course is gearing up for their first game on September 6th.

love the updates…the ice cream gutter thing is a cool idea…I might have to use that one day! E’s hair is hilarious! I see both Nathan and Katie in her…amazing! We’re gearing up for the football season too–go DAWGS!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
