Kirsti packed up and left us on Friday. It is time for volleyball practice to begin and she has to move into her college house with her girlfriends this week. Kirsti was mistaken a few times around town this summer as me and once asked by a customer of ours if we were twin sisters. (Note: not a compliment in Kirsti’s book. I’m old. She’s young.) We are eight years a part in age and this was our summer of sisterly bonding. Despite our brothers’ sure thing guarantee that we might be at each other’s throats every day, we weren’t and became closer than ever as friends.
So…to say we were sad to see Kirsti go is an understatement. Besides being a wonderful auntie, sister, nanny and substitute water aerobics instructor this summer, Kirsti was the driver behind unpacking boxes. We might still be eating on paper plates if it weren’t for Kirsti filling our cupboards. She has been organizing my things since she was three years old when she would ask to “ohganize” my nail polish bottles. Thanks to Kirsti we have towels in cupboards and china in the hutch. Most importantly our kids had the best care when we were working and for sure Hunter will have endless fun memories of his Auntie K spending the summer with him plus we can always show Elissa pictures and tell her about the summer that Kirsti played dress up with her every day.
Much thanks Kirsti Rennae. We miss and love you. Now go get some kills, blocks and aces..at least I think that is what you do in volleyball.
