What I want for my daughters…through pictures

Filed Under: Motivated Moms Tagged With: family, motherhood, working mom 7 Comments

This morning, one of my best friends, my first college roommate, a bridesmaid in our wedding, lost her mom to cancer. Her mom has been her guide, her advocate, her friend, her help and loved her like all children should feel loved by their mom. And early this morning, I laid in my bed and sobbed. Nathan had left early…

North Dakota’s Frosty, Snowy Spring

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie life Leave a Comment

I am going to begin doing Wordless Wednesdays again with a gallery of photos. Here’s this year’s first installment taken on Monday and Tuesday of this week on the frosty North Dakota prairie. You can see the girls don’t seem to mind the winter living on into the spring quite yet. I, on the other hand, am dreaming of gardening,…

The Judgement of Life Choices

Filed Under: Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: faith, family, motherhood, North Dakota, prairie life 31 Comments

You judge. I judge. We are sinful. But above all, I believe we are called to love. On Friday, the North Dakota Legislature passed a series of bills limiting and nearly making abortions illegal in North Dakota. Does that make you click out of this blog immediately? I know. It makes us uncomfortable. Many of us feel harsh judgement towards…

7 things I learned testifying at the Legislature

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: North Dakota, prairie, prairie life 5 Comments

I testified at the North Dakota Legislature House Education Committee yesterday. It was the first time I have ever stood to testify as a private, tax paying citizen in a committee hearing. For me, it was a significant moment. I have sat through agriculture related hearings earlier this year as a state employee. My mind would swirl with ideas and…

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

But things are going to look different around here soon. I wanted to give you the heads up that change is coming. As we switch from…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
