Spring track season in North Dakota

I spent a decade of my life as a track and field athlete and then a couple years coaching. I will forever be a track and field junkie. Today I was reminded of the reality of spring track and field in North Dakota. Yesterday it was sunny and 70 degrees with a slight breeze. Today it was 43 degrees when…

Our baby girl has a pink cast

Our baby girl has a broken leg. Nathan was with Elizabeth this morning at the doctor’s office in our hometown seeing the orthopedic specialist. We have been dealing with this for over a week since a mishap at the park last Tuesday night. The original diagnose was a hyper extension or maybe knee sprain. Then we were worried about a…

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota Tagged With: conservation, North Dakota, prairie life, trees 1 Comment

When we are home on a Saturday, there is always a project. Today Nathan said it was “full circle” to get out the chainsaw and cut down a tree in his parent’s backyard that he helped grow as a child and was his sister’s Arbor Day tree from school in the early 1980’s. The reason for the tree take down?…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
