Ugly outside, fun inside

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

When it is ugly outside like it has been for the past few days, we need even more fun activities inside which is a challenge at times with a very busy Busy Bits. This weekend she loved watching me gather snow from the deck by the bucket load and filling the kitchen sink for her to play in it. My mom used…

Frosty the Snowman debuts on the prairie

Filed Under: Family Values, Life in North Dakota Tagged With: family fun, prairie life 4 Comments

There could not have been a better day for snowman building than today. Miss E came in the door from being outside with Hunter and Nathan and said “Mommy, Frosty the Snowman is coming to our house!” And so he was. All 8 feet high of him in our front yard. A new use for a Bobcat: Snowman building Probably only on…

The weather outside is frightful…

It has been foggy, icy and soon to be very snowy. Hunter is out of school early this afternoon and bummed his basketball tournament has been cancelled. Nathan came home from work to build a big fire as the power is blinking and now our house will be extra cozy in case we lose electricity which a nearby town already…

Whirlwind Wednesday On The Prairie

Filed Under: Life in North Dakota, Motivated Moms Tagged With: Pioneer Woman, prairie life, Ree Drummond, working mom 2 Comments

We awoke very early on the prairie yesterday morning, loaded up three sleepy but smiling and fed kids into the Odyssey and drove 90 miles to the big “city” on the prairie but left the camera at home. No pictures to document our chaos. It’s probably better that way. Hunter had an 8AM orthodontist appointment and knowing that I scheduled…

The Busyness of Busy Bits

Our lil’ Miss E has earned the name “Busy Bits” for quite some time now. She is a force to be reckoned with when she does not get her exact demand or you do not respond immediately to her command. But most of the time though she is just busy. Sweet and busy. Sometimes she is busy being a mother……

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
