Weekly Column: New chapter for small-town school

Filed Under: Weekly Column Tagged With: rural life, Weekly Column Leave a Comment

In April, I started a weekly online column with Agweek. Earlier this month, the column started being printed weekly in Agweek and remains published online each Saturday morning. Weekly column writing is different from blogging but still definitely is my voice. I have wanted new opportunities to expand my speaking and writing. Last year Midwest Living gave me an opportunity. This…

Three kids all in one school

Filed Under: Motivated Moms Tagged With: kids, motherhood, prairie life, rural life, working mom 1 Comment

The much-anticipated school year arrived today. The fog was so thick when Nathan and I awoke early you couldn’t see across our yard. The thick fog reminded me of when a younger Elizabeth would awake on foggy mornings and say “It is sooo blurry outside!” That’s been our summer, a little blurry and foggy. I am ready for the school…

He’s an adult now…Happy Birthday Hunter!

Filed Under: Family Values 4 Comments

Today our son is 18 years old. He’s technically a legal adult and told his sisters this morning he can buy a lottery ticket today and gets to vote this fall. Oh, the freedoms! It’s a day to remember, celebrate and be thankful I get to be to his mom. 18 years ago today changed my life for the…

So much has happened in a week from a Southern adventure for the girls and me, my sister giving birth to a baby boy who is our first nephew, Hakkon Michael, our son Hunter committing to the University of North Dakota to attend college and play football and last night we picked up…

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
