Do you ever feel like you snapped your fingers and suddenly a moment you had hoped would last longer was gone, forever? You wanted to savor it, to hang on a little longer but before you could, it passed. You couldn’t keep up with it. You couldn’t hang on to it to keep it right where you wanted it. That’s my life right now. Instead of letting all the moments pass in a snap, I am living them. Chasing after them. Saying, wait, let me just see that program. Let me watch that race. Hold on, before you ride your bike, let’s take a picture. Your front tooth is loose? Let’s pull it out.
I have to live in the moment. Not all the moments go as planned. I can’t control them. But I am living them, as best I can, while juggling motherhood, volunteering, a few business commitments and a mound of laundry that never disappears.
My list of blog topics, on things I want to share with you is long and in “notes” on my phone. My photos are backlogged on my camera and computer. But just so you know, I will catch up, someday when I can pause a few moments.
Until then, school is out. Track season is complete for our son. He is home from the International Science Fair after the “most fun trip” of his life. Miss E completed kindergarten. She lost her front tooth. She rode 18 laps around the track in her bike-a-thon fundraiser. Miss A and Miss E start t-ball and gymnastics next week, together.
The prairie is finally warming. I’m giddy about temperatures being over 80 F in coming days. I will get to plant a garden and most importantly our farmers can plant and seed water-logged fields. Follow my mom’s farm blog to see what is happening on our family farm.
Now it’s time for me to sleep a few moments before prepping some chicken drumsticks and steaks for weekend grilling with family and friends.
What’s a moment you want to soak in and capture this coming summer?
Kim at Kim's County Line says
We would gladly take some of your rain. A good rain would be something I would gladly “soak in” this summer. But I also want to celebrate moments – big and small – and appreciate the blessings of farm, family and life in general. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!
