Why membership matters

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

I left the prairie with its whipping winds and snow yesterday to make the trek to Nashville, Tennessee for the annual American Farm Bureau Federation annual meeting. My home was cozy with my family all home, due to our son’s basketball game being postponed from weather. It would have been a great weekend at home. But, I am a North Dakota Farm Bureau member and to me, membership matters. Instead of staying home in bad weather, I traveled to participate and speak this weekend in Nashville.

This afternoon I will speak on social media in agriculture on a panel with Zach Hunnicutt, a fifth generation corn, popcorn and soybean farmer from Nebraska who tweets and who competes with me on sunrise and sunset photos weekly on Instagram, Janice Person, a dear Southern girlfriend who works at Monsanto and came for a visit to North Dakota not once but three times in 2012 and Ryan Goodman, a Southern gentleman, cattleman, contributor to CNN’s Eatocracy blog and graduate student who I have spoked with twice before on blogging at the AgChat Foundation training.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
