2. Online shopping. Over the course of two hour span while the girls had Labor Day weekend naps, my mom and I ordered me a new fall wardrobe. These boxes arrived this week from Nordstrom. I’ll be blogging about wardrobe, shopping and deals more soon.
3. Football. The boys haven’t won yet but football is iconically fall. Plus it allows weekly road trips and family time for us to and from games.
4. Concession stands. I would be lying if I didn’t admit when my kids can eat supper on a Monday night at the football game concession stands I am semi-relived. There’s no drive-thru on the prairie. A football concession stand is our replacement and once a week for football season is awesome. Although I still have to feed a hungry like a pack wolves teenager after the game at home. But after a football game the girls are fed, played out (their friend Jared is shown above with them) and ready for early bed.
5. Neighbors. I didn’t make pickles this year like I did last year. Time ran out but never fear neighbors are here. I have pickles thanks to friendly neighbors.
6. Help in the garden. It froze last night. It’s way too early to freeze but Mother Nature didn’t listen to my reasoning. But the girls and Nathan took it upon themselves to gather as much as they could before the freeze.
7. Carrot digging.
8. Potato digging
9. Tomato picking. Have you ever seen a cute tomato picker? We covered the squash and pumpkins last night and a few pots of flowers, cherry tomatoes and banana peppers. Otherwise the garden season is now done.
12. Colleagues that get in the trenches and get work done. This is Brandon. He’s going to be rolling his eyes that I put his picture on my personal blog. He is one of many team members I work with daily but since I snapped this really good picture of him last week he gets to represent the entire team I work alongside in my work. I fly at about 30,000 feet, literally and figuratively. I don’t excel at details. I have ideas. People like Brandon make them happen. I couldn’t survive and wouldn’t thrive without them.
13. Friends. Friends that make cupcakes and share, like these that my friend Crystal made. Divine. Friends that meet me for a late supper as Miss E and I were leaving the farm show yesterday like Beth and boys. Friends that stop by for a cup coffee and friends that go walking with me. Friends that talk to me late at night while I am driving. Friends that plan fun road trips and get away weekends. Every woman needs a few friends to help each of us survive and thrive together.
14. Moonlight on the prairie that makes me stop, pause and capture the moment.
15. A hard working man. I like him and thankfully he likes me. We survive and together thrive, no matter the month. And I can’t say anything else or I would break his blog rule of “don’t say anything mushy about me on the blog”.
What is a key of yours to surviving and thriving?
It’s Thankful Thursday and I’m linking up with Nancy at The Wife of a Dairyman. She has a detailed story of the farm tour we attended last weekend together and how a family farms 30,000 acres of lettuce in California.
