Secondly for today, my mom has a big moment.
My mom diligently blogs 5 days a week from our GriggsDakota farm, telling beautiful stories through photos and detailed farm stories. She’s a blogging inspiration for me. In person, she’s much more quiet in nature than me but has a strong voice and has taught me how to share my voice. She’s an anchor, voice of reason and a sounding board on a daily basis in my life. Today you can read what she has to say that was featured in Bloomberg Businessweek about why she blogs from our 5th generation farm and she discusses how Washington can help American business.
Thirdly, my fellow prairie mama friend, Val of Wag’n Tales and I got squared away yesterday afternoon and we drove 705 miles arriving in Hutchinson, Kansas at 2:45AM this morning. I slept for four hours and will soon take a nap. Tomorrow, Val and I along with new faces I have never met and a few faces I have met will share at the #140conf Small Town. There are a variety of topics covered. I need to sleep before I can organize my thoughts about how I am going to cover all that I want to say in 10 minutes! But my friend JP gives a great overview of the entire conference here.
I’m nervous just typing about it but about 3,000 people are expected to watch the live stream which you will be able access through the Small Town 140 home page. This event is a stepping out my comfort zone box for me but will be a personal way to connect our small town story to an audience far from our prairie home. If one person is inspired to step out of their comfort zone and invest in rural America with their time and/or resources, my goal will be accomplished. The 1410 round trip miles of driving in less than 72 hours will be all worth it. Then again just the 10 hours of talking Val and I did last night is worth the road trip itself.
It’s my nap time. Love for Leontien, GriggsDakota in Bloomberg and Small Town conference. 3 big things on my mind that I hope you connect with today.
What’s top of mind for you today?
