Wordful Wednesday: Dairy Cows Instead of Oprah

Filed Under: Uncategorized Tagged With: agriculture, dairy, family farm, know a California farmer, Oprah, Oprah goes vegan 8 Comments

Yesterday while my friends were texting, tweeting, writing statuses on Facebook and chatting while watching the Oprah show and how she and her 378 staff members are going vegan for a week with no meat, no milk and no animal products, I was with a few colleagues touring my friend Ray Prock and family’s dairy farm in Denair, California.

Maybe Oprah should take a few farm tours? My Ohio farmer friends, Mike and Pam Haley invited Oprah to tour their farm via their blog yesterday.

Did you watch Oprah yesterday? Go ahead and fill me in on what I missed and I will tell you more soon about what I learned from my dairy tour.

If you are interested, I am linking up today for Wordless/Wordful Wednesday with A Beautiful Mess, Live Out Loud, Dagmar’s MomSense, ParentingByDummies and for the first time ever…I am going to try a BlogHop. Happy Wordless/ Wordful (depending on your mood today) Wednesday!

Your cow pics are beautiful. I linked up my pics of the ice storm we had here yesterday. Please let me know if you want me to link back to your site on my post.

    I miss cows!

I went vegan for a day (more of a spiritual fast thing just to see if I could do it) and it about killed me. By bedtime I was ready to eat butter straight from the dish!

Nope, no vegan for me….even if it is “healthier”.

Katie, While you are out in California soaking up the rays at Ray’s, I’m stuck in snow. And I’m nowhere near hearty enough for that! Here’s what has me wordless, http://jplovescotton.com/2011/02/02/snowbound-wordlessness/

Being from Wisconsin, I always love dairy cattle – even though the majority there were Holsteins. 🙂

I could go meatless, but don’t want to live without dairy.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
