We are wrapping up a six night vacation in Montana. And I forgot my camera at home. The pictures on this post are from my phone. Camera or not we have had a wonderfully relaxing and fabulously fun time.
Nathan and the kids just dropped me off at the airport so I can head out on a business trip. A loaded vehicle, three kids and 576 miles to drive home and he was smiling. What a gem.
My youngest brother, Joe was on spring break this past week from college. He came with my parents for a few days and experienced his first ever downhill skiing. He took a half day beginner lesson, practiced on the bunny hill and was going down green runs with us in less than a day.
Hunter also took a lesson on the first day of skiing last Wednesday. We first brought him to Big Sky three years ago. One of Hunter’s friends from school, Jacob and his family were also in Big Sky at the same time as us. We were able to hang out with them two evenings. Hunter skied with Jacob and Jacob’s dad, Darren for a couple extra days. They are expert skiers and taught Hunter so much about improving his skiing. Hunter and I were going up on the chair lift together on Thursday and he said “Mom, I love skiing”. His love for skiing definitely grew over the past week. Finally last night he had to turn in his skis at rental return, after renting an extra day beyond what we had originally planned. With Hunter’s love for skiing, there is no doubt we will be back.
My parents stayed with the girls during the day for two days so Nathan and I could ski together. We took a lesson together on his birthday.
Nathan’s longtime friend Wade, who is an architect and a wheat farmer in Montana, joined us for a day of skiing. We were able to visit with Wade, his wife Holly and their two girls Emma and Ava for two days.
We stayed nestled in a log cabin on the mountain. It was unseasonably warm but did snow one day and it made our cabin even cozier.
Nathan and I enjoyed awesome down time with the kids. We are rested, renewed and thankful for our family.
And we highly recommend a family vacation to Montana. No lines, plenty of fun activities even if you aren’t a “skier” and it all leads to family fun and lifetime of memories.
