Fun friends on a rainy day

Filed Under: Uncategorized Leave a Comment

Some of our fun friends from Fargo road tripped yesterday to visit us. It rained the entire time they drove the long road to arrive
and then it down poured in the afternoon here. It scraped any plans of summer swimming!
However that did not stop the kids from having a grand time. Hunter was the very cool big brother and great helper. Plus my friend Nicole went out of her way to make things ultra easy for me the full term pregnant workin’ mama.
Nicki and I have been friends since Jordan was a little baby and they had just moved to Fargo for her husband to coach at NDSU. Hunter was a kindergartner.
Because of this friendship, I budged a little on my intense loyalty to the University of North Dakota and have allowed Hunter to go NDSU basketball camp for years. We are big fans of Coach Phillips and his successful teams.
Nicki is hilarious, grounded, laid back and so much fun.
It was a quick visit but a thrill for our kids to play together and for us to get caught up on life.
Charlie, Hunter and Jordan played with homemade play dough. I have learned to make my mom’s recipe and it so much better than the icky stuff from the can because it lasts and doesn’t get crumbly and dried out. And it provides great rainy day entertainment for kids of all ages.

After play dough time, Hunter and Nathan took our visiting friends on a tour of the lumber yard. It was a field trip you couldn’t get in Fargo!

The rain passed and everyone took part in Miss E’s favorite evening activity, throwing rocks into the lake.

Plus there was playtime at the park!

Elizabeth is all about being a big girl at the park, climbing the stairs and going down the slide by herself. Although we as parents are still a little nervous since her leg breaking incident on the slide. She is full of confidence!

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
