Family, Fun & Fireworks

We could have charged admission!
When you get my family all together on the 4th of July there is one guarantee…endless fireworks. Everyone brings boxes and bags full of their old stand by favorites as well as the newest and grandest pyrotechnics. Grandpa Sonny proclaimed it was our best year ever of fireworks at the farm.

Family camp fire…Mama Jane had a table full of food to cook over the fire. There were grilled cheese sandwiches, Canadian bacon, brats and of course the main stay of marshmallows created into smores.

Elissa sings with her Uncle Robbie. She also sang “high soprano” in church today. Our pitching ace cousin Wyatt helped Hunter on pitching form which was much appreciated.

One of my favorite quotes of the weekend was when Logan wanted to hold “the baby” as we call her often. He said “I have only got to her pet her so far so can’t I hold her?”

Uncle Nathan and the boys shoot rockets over the lake
A group shot of the many chairs lined up to begin watching the display of daylight fireworks…a lot of smoke bombs and bottle rockets! Holly warned Robbie I might put his display of white socks and black shoes on the Internet. Note that our father Fred is sporting white socks and slippers. So not to worry Robbie this is an inherited thing. You’ll be wearing slippers in thirty years on the 4th of July.

Great pics! When I think of your family and the 4th, I always remember the year your Mom broke her ankle trying to get Robbie out of the way from the fireworks. Looks like you had a great weekend.

Welcome to the Prairie…

I am a mom of three kids and a wife to Nathan. Together we live on the North Dakota prairie, 97 miles from a Starbuck's. I share about family, food, farming and the prairie that I love. I used to commute 98 miles one-way to work but it required too much coffee. So now I am home, consulting, speaking, writing and primarily, juggling family life.
